Arizona is a community property state which means that property acquired during the marriage can be allocated equitably to the parties at the time of dissolution, however there are exceptions. If one spouse owns property prior to the marriage, but the community pays the mortgage or upgrades the home, a spouse may be entitled to some equity of the home even though the house was purchased prior to marriage.
